Heins takes the stage – Goldbeck and Katja Kessler bring metropolitan design flair to the H1 in Bielefeld.
Goldbeck has revitalized the iconic H1 building, formerly the Post or Telekom high-rise. In 2023, the University of Bielefeld, several departments of Goldbeck itself, and the staffing agency Piening moved into office spaces in the building. The overall concept of Bielefeld’s only high-rise brings the character of the region to life in a charming way – „Heins,“ the city’s most charming host, takes up residence in the H1. Goldbeck collaborated with award-winning interior designer Katja Kessler for the interior design.
Behind “Heins,“ the soul of the house, is the brand concept that brings together the offerings on the special floors in the H1 building. A human name fits well here because, like people, buildings create a home, tell stories, and evolve over time.
“Heins“ will present itself to external guests on the ground floor and the first upper floor of the H1 in the form of the restaurant “Heins speist“ and the coworking space “Heins arbeitet.“ Both will open in the summer of 2024. “Heins ruht“ a boarding house exclusive to the building’s tenants, complements the concept. “Heins trifft“ serves as a penthouse conference floor for meetings and events, available for tenants of the H1 and partner companies. The event spaces will be complemented by a lounge offering views over Bielefeld. Goldbeck has secured the award-winning interior designer Katja Kessler, who has honored the atmosphere and style of „Heins“ with an extraordinary design concept.
Katja Kessler liefert Gestaltungskonzept
Katja Kessler, the creative mind behind Katja Kessler Kreation and winner of the prestigious London SBID Awards, is an expert in unique interior design concepts. „It’s all about the people, not the furniture. I wanted the new location to be a place of happiness. The design style is as individual as the people who will work, eat, and stay here: a mix of cool and cozy, old and new, conservative and crazy, a patinated flea market find and a designer piece. East Westphalia meets London and New York. I want people to catch themselves smiling unexpectedly.“ This distinctive style can now be found in the special areas and the entrance of the H1.
Heins moves in
„The H1 is iconic for Bielefeld. It stands for continuity, but also for something completely new—a blend of tradition and innovation, of history and future. This is exactly reflected in the design concept and the ‚Heins‘ brand,“ says Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck, who, alongside his brother Jörg-Uwe, manages the construction and service company as managing partner. „We are delighted that Katja Kessler, with her extraordinary perspective for unconventional designs, has turned the special spaces in the H1 into an absolute eye-catcher. She understood us from the very beginning, recognized the atmosphere of the building, and, with love for every detail, reinterpreted the interior design in a unique way.“ The fully furnished spaces are aware of their past as a telecommunications tower—but confidently dressed in a new guise, offering a feel-good atmosphere that combines avant-garde with retro charm.
A gravitational field in the heart of Bielefeld’s city center
„Existing elements should be embraced, and styles combined. The people who will come to ‚Heins‘ in the future can look forward to comfortable workspaces, high-quality gastronomy, and a great view,“ emphasizes Jörg-Uwe Goldbeck. „We hope that ‚Heins‘, with its diverse mix of uses and excellent connectivity, will establish itself as a focal point in the heart of Bielefeld’s city center.“
Further information:
“Heins speist“: Gastronomy
In the gastronomy, traditional and local cuisine is presented in a new way: sandwiches, bagels, or bowls cater to all tastes and invite all Bielefeld residents for a quick visit or to linger.
“Heins arbeitet“: Co-Working
The co-working concept offers space for modern work environments, combining individual and group workspaces as well as private offices. These can be booked on a daily basis or for longer periods, depending on your needs. A tribute to East Westphalia: the names of the meeting rooms are inspired by regional colloquial terms, such as Bölkhannes, Pömpel, Pinöckel, and Schmülleken.
“Heins ruht“: Boarding House for Residents
Tenants who come to Bielefeld for a business trip or an extended stay will find a home away from home in Heins’ boarding house: The rooms offer maximum comfort, smart technology, and plenty of space in retro design with a modern twist. In the shared communal kitchen, everyone can come together in the evening who enjoys some social time. The adjacent fitness area completes the attractive amenities.
“Heins trifft“: Conference floor for meetings and events
High up on the 17th floor, tenants of the H1 building and partner companies are welcomed by a unique event space. During the day, „Heins trifft“ offers ample room for meetings, conferences, and seminars. In the evening, the floor transforms into a festive setting – the perfect backdrop for corporate gatherings and celebrations.
The H1
As a Bielefeld-based company, Goldbeck is particularly committed to enhancing the prominent and centrally located H1 building. The revitalization of the 76-meter-high H1 building, along with the construction of a new parking garage and office building, contributes to upgrading the area around Kesselbrink and creating a more open connection to Neumarkt. In mid-2023, Goldbeck Services already moved into the building across three floors. With the H1 office building, Goldbeck has created attractive workspaces across 17 floors in a central location, contributing to the revitalization of this area in the city center. The adjacent parking garage, still under construction, will provide additional parking spaces for H1 users. A restaurant and co-working spaces complete the offering.
