Before GOLDBECK developed the “Heins” brand, the revitalization of the H1 building was already in full swing. Since 2018, the iconic high-rise in Bielefeld has been owned by GOLDBECK. The internal design team, “Building in Existing Structures,” led the revitalization of the building, originally constructed in 1971. Standing 76 meters tall with 17 floors, the H1 is Bielefeld’s first and only high-rise – hence the name H1.

The first milestone

After an extensive revitalization, GOLDBECK Services colleagues moved into three floors in August 2023. But this was just the beginning – the building is set to evolve even further. Below, you’ll find an overview of the building’s design concept and what GOLDBECK employees can look forward to:

The building usage concept of HEINS

Why Heins?

Buildings and the people who occupy them may seem worlds apart at first, but upon closer look, they have a lot in common:

  • Both can tell stories.
  • The facade can be deceiving – it’s always worth exploring what’s inside.
  • They evolve with time, yet remain true to their core.

The H1 has a fascinating history, and after its revitalization, it’s showcasing its best side: A true personality – Heins.

Tell us a bit about yourself, dear Heins.

I’m Heins – the good old soul of the house, always here to make things feel right at home.

Heins is the Nordic version of Heinz, roughly translating to “Ruler of the Home.” Its roots trace back to Old High German, derived from “heima,” meaning “The Home.”

For us, Heins is the master of the house. He’s like the Phantom of the Opera, Banksy on the streets, or Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter – everyone knows him, but no one sees him.
